I have the newer VSC 450 bt model. It is vastly improved and has some bass. I still use an aux speaker with it. It handles the louder bass and the Victrola's volume handles the treble. I use it for my primary record player now.

To begin with, Victrola is not Audiophile Standard. What sounds good is what sounds good to the listener. Victrola products are consumer priced and are designed to be both enjoyable and affordable. I have collected records since roughly 1962 and I have a house full of of "Victrola" products. If your budget will allow Bang and Olefson go for it, but for mortals like myself who do our impersonation of Nipper and who just dig our tunes then I say "Viva Victrola"! Who say's you have to be a tech snob to have fun?

I bought a Victrola Dec of 2019 Jan of 2021 it quit working. Emailed and left many messages when we called the company. We have never heard back.

In reply to <a href="https://fatcityturntables.com/are-victrola-record-players-good/#comment-11543">Marguerite Rhatigan</a>.

Hi Marguerite,
Appreciate the comment! If you have the manual for your particular unit, there should be some information about adjusting the tonearm if it is indeed adjustable. Because Victrola has so many models, it's hard to say whether yours is. Luckily, Victrola has an article with a few points regarding any adjustments that might be possible: https://victrola.com/blogs/articles/getting-started-how-to-work-a-record-player.
Good luck!

I received a Victrola 7in1 player for Christmas to play my Mom's 33 1/3 LPs.
I seem to be having a problem with the quality of the sound, but it seems to improve slightly if I place a little weight (pressure) on the component that holds the needle ( don't know if that's called the stylus).
Can you tell me if there's a way of adjusting it or possibly adjusting the tone arm?

I have come to notice that today's turntables even in reviews don't give any reals technical specifications of the turntable itself like the not of frequency range is for the cartridge that can be changed and even that info was just general. If you have a so so cartridge in excellent turntable and as good as the turntable can handle in a low end turntable even reasonable quality, the cheap one wins in sound. The cartridge cost doesn't count. Many come without just for the reason that buyer might already have a good one or prefer to get a quality one that will cost more than this turntable. If this one has any descent specifications it would work with a better cartridge and produce superior sound. Now you only practically gave info about the operation and cartridge specs and those without any range either. Like basically you said, it turns about right speed because the stroboscope on the platter said so and the cartridge is supposed to deliver, at least what the manufacture say 20Hz to 20kHz. +/- ? db maybe 6 distortion maybe 3 % +/- some, hum who knows, we didn't hear any or did you. So you see, I don't blame you alone as every, or almost do the same thing and that doesn't help anybody. You just happened to have very easy reply form. Now that is positive at least.
